About Us
Kownayn Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in the United
States with active operations across East Africa, including Somalia,
Kenya, Djibouti, and Ethiopia. The Foundation is committed to
addressing critical challenges in underserved communities by
providing emergency aid, advancing Education, improving Healthcare,
and implementing sustainable development programs.
Kownayn Foundation operates across key sectors of human
development, with a strong emphasis on expanding access to quality
education, delivering essential health services, and supporting
vulnerable populations through relief efforts and economic
empowerment initiatives. Our programs are designed to uplift
marginalized communities, respond to humanitarian crises, and
promote long-term, community-led development throughout Somalia
and the broader East African region.
Through strategic partnerships, grassroots engagement, and a focus
on measurable impact, Kownayn Foundation strives to create lasting
change and a future of opportunity for those most in need.

Our Impact Since Inception
Since our founding, Kownayn Foundation has worked tirelessly to expand access to quality education and healthcare in Somalia.
We proudly operate and fund the following institutions and community-based projects:
🍃 Kownayn University – Mogadishu, Somalia
🍃 Guulwade Vocational Training Center – Kismayo, Jubbaland
🍃 Amjad Primary and Secondary School – Mogadishu, Somalia
🍃 Bardhere Midwifery and Laboratory Center – Serving the Gedo region
In addition to running these institutions, we have:
🍃 Fully covered tuition fees for over 800 students in need
🍃 Continued supporting 700+ students currently with ongoing tuition assistance
🍃 Launched a new school construction project to expand access for underserved children
🍃 Provided essential furniture and equipment to improve learning environments in both schools and universities
Through these efforts, we remain committed to nurturing talent, expanding opportunity, and building a brighter future for Somali communities.

Kownayn Foundation was founded in 2010 and registered in the United States as a non-profit organization, with the official status of a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This status grants the Foundation tax-exempt privileges, allowing it to receive tax-deductible donations from individuals, corporations, and other entities.
